What you need

  • You need your SIN, mailing address and legal status in Canada. Adding your 2024 net income (line 23600) and direct deposit details speeds things up. Legal representatives also need proof of authority and their own ID.

Questions people ask

Do I need the disability tax credit to get the CDB?

Yes. Approval for the disability tax credit is one of the requirements, along with your age, residence, status in Canada and filing your 2025 tax return.

Can I work and still get the Canada Disability Benefit?

Yes. Part of your working income is exempt, and earning more than the exempt amount does not always lower your benefit.

Can I get CDB back payments?

Yes. If eligible, you may get back payments for up to 24 months, counted back from when Service Canada gets your application, but not for any month before June 2025.
