Short answer
Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care issues Manitoba Health Cards. Check that you are eligible, then register online and upload copies of your documents, such as proof of legal status in Canada and proof that you live in Manitoba. People moving from another province are covered from the first day of the third month after they arrive. Plastic and digital cards are now available.

Questions people ask
Can I apply for a Manitoba Health Card online?
Yes. The registration form is online, and you upload copies of your required documents as you fill it in.
When does Manitoba health coverage start if I move from another province?
On the first day of the third month after you arrive. The month you arrive counts as the first month, so someone who arrives in April is covered from July 1.
Do I have to switch my paper Manitoba Health Card for a plastic one?
No. Paper cards stay valid. You will get a plastic card automatically the next time you change your name or add or remove a spouse or dependant.
How long does it take to get the new plastic Manitoba Health Card?
Manitoba does not give a set time and warns that waits could be longer than usual. If you need a card urgently for care, call Registration and Client Services at 204-786-7101.
