Short answer

Canada Student Grants and Loans help pay for college, university and trade school. You do not apply to Ottawa directly: apply through the student aid office of the province or territory you live in, which works out what you get. Grants do not need to be repaid. Loan repayment starts 6 months after you leave school, through the National Student Loans Service Centre.

Who handles it

Service Canada (Employment and Social Development Canada)

Handles it everywhere in Canada except Quebec (Aide financière aux études (Gouvernement du Québec)), Northwest Territories (Student Financial Assistance (Government of the Northwest Territories)) and Nunavut (Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students (Government of Nunavut)).

Canada Service Map is independent and not a government website. The official page always has the final word.
